Health Talk on Hypertension & AED Usage

AsSalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

It is important that we all take good care of our physical well-being along with our spiritual well-being. Alhumdulillah Imam Mazhar gave an enlightening Juma Khutba about how our beloved Prophets ( Peace and Blessings of Allah Subhana Wa Ta’ala Be upon all of them ) put much stress on our physical health as well. Our bodies are a gift from our Creator and we are obligated to take good care of it. If you missed the last Juma Khutba on this topic you can listen to it online on the IFP website InshaAllah.

With the general community in mind, a series of talks, named “ To Your Health “ will be starting at IFP from this Sunday InshaAllah between Asr ( 3:20 pm ) and Maghreb ( 5:00 pm ).

This week’s topic is “ High Blood Pressure “. It is one of the most important risk factors, which if ignored or not controlled, can lead to heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure and many other serious diseases in future.

This Sunday’s Talk will be given by Dr. Ahsan Usman, who is an Internist, a Hospitalist as well as a Nephrologist. He completed his fellowship from the famous Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Following this talk, IF possible , Dr. Saif Shah will give a demonstration of when to and how to use an AED – a Defibrillator, in case of a medical emergency. FYI : InshaAllah an AED will soon be placed in the Masjid.

Jazak Allah Khairun to both these doctors of our community for volunteering their time out of their busy schedules and to the Brother/s donating the AED.

Do avail of this opportunity to increase your awareness and thereby better your health InshaAllah.

Please also make a note that the next health talk will take place on Saturday the 15th of December featuring Dr. Mahmood, Neurologist from Decatur, IL, on – Strokes, as well as on Alzheimer’s dementia. Both of which are highly relevant / important topics.

Jazak Allah Khair !
